Their Tallow is rendered Wagyu fat that is solid at room temperature and is shelf-stable, meaning it can be stored for an extended period of time in an air-tight container. Due to tallow’s extremely high smoke point of 220ºC, it’s long been known as a great medium for frying.

When melted, L.A. FARMS Wagyu Tallow is a clear oil, packed with heart-healthy oleic acid. In addition, tallow can promote radiant skin as well as helps the body absorb more vitamin A, D, E and K, to boost the immune system.

Through sustainable farming methods, we have a long-term commitment to the land and environment and strive to ensure that our efforts will be enjoyed for future generations.

Health Benefits

  • Tallow is rich in CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), a fatty acid which, according to some studies, can help burn fat.
  • The structure of our cell membranes is made up of approximately 50% saturated fats, which is very similar to the percentage of saturated fatty acids in tallow. Fatty acids are also considered the building blocks of skin cells, which makes them an important component for skin repair and regeneration.
  • Fat is needed to absorb the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, which  help support your immune system.
  • Unusually high smoking point

____________

It all started in the late 1990’s, when their founder AK Peer acquired a piece of farmland on the Cape West Coast between St.Helena Bay and Veldrif. What started as just an escape from the city for a weekend away gradually grew into the incredible working farm it has become today. Starting with just a few animals a small organic vegetable garden and fruit orchard they have slowly expanded rooting everything that they do into with their simple philosophy: farming in the most natural, sustainable way without chemicals and antibiotics and with the knowing of traceability and the ethical treatment of our animals.

We have a strict breeding policy and maintain stud animals that we breed with. We invest in the top 5% of breed, meaning that the progeny of our Wagyu, Aberdeen Angus and Lamb are of superior genetics. This in itself keeps the standard and quality of our meat high and consistent. We are a member of the Angus Society of South Africa and the Wagyu Society of South Africa.

All our calves and lambs are kept with their mothers and naturally reared, until maturity.

More Info on Wagyu

All our Wagyu cattle are certified and registered with the Wagyu Society of South Africa. Originating from Japan, Wagyu is known for its superior marbling, which are the fine veins of fat in the meat. This fat is high in Omega 3 and Omega 6, and is considered a healthy fat. The result is a very smooth, and buttery taste which is unique to Wagyu. Our marbling is consistently around a 7 – 9 count out of 11. We do produce Wagyu with higher marbling counts.
